# Colophon

How this site is made, and what it promises the people who read it.

By Alaa. Published October 10, 2026.

This site is built to be read first. Every page is plain HTML, rendered ahead of time, that works without JavaScript, on any phone, with any assistive technology. Anything interactive is layered on top and is never required.

## Promises

- **Fast on phones.** Every page has a strict budget for the JavaScript it loads, checked on every change.
- **Accessible.** Text contrast of at least 7:1, touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels, and no motion you did not ask for.
- **No tracking cookies.** Analytics keep nothing on your device, and your IP address is discarded once it has been turned into a country and city.
- **Readable anywhere.** Every page is also available as Markdown: add `.md` to its address. There are Atom feeds for Writing and Finds, and an `llms.txt` for language models.

## Tools

The site is written in TypeScript with Next.js and React, checked by Biome, built with Bun, and served by Vercel.
